This review is for the 110 cm (43.5 inch) light/silver version of the viking.I spent alot of time looking for a decent lock..went through everything from kryptonite to hiplok to cheap masterlock shoe-string cable locks. I wanted something light and long enough to comfortably carry over my shoulder (like a sash), yet strong and solid enough to secure a mid-range (in terms of expense), nice looking bike. I wanted a chain as U-locks are too limiting, especially in the few spots I have to leave my bike regularly. This thing hit every mark! I’m no bike lock expert, but to me? This thing is beastly, definitely overkill for my area where alot of people leave their bikes entirely unlocked for hours at a time. Cable locks are the norm around here, even on E-bikes..but theft happens everywhere and it does occasionally happen here. I’m in no way suggesting you do so, but you could probably (for sure) use this thing for self defense if someone tried to steal your bike out from under you. It feels very well made, and the lock itself is by far the smoothest I’ve ever used on a bike lock..no sticking or anything, and the magnet is a nice feature. Easy as pie to lock/unlock. Mine came with 3 very nice, car-quality keys and a code to register them. The chain links themselves feel solid, certainly hefty enough for a silver rated lock, but realistically could still be cut in a few minutes if a thief had the right tool..it would definitely take two cuts to defeat however. Being a silver rated lock, it should be able to withstand up to 3 minutes of persistent attacking by a determined thief with tools (bronze is 1 minute, gold 5+ etc). Also, the neoprene feels to be high quality, it won’t be easily damaged from general daily use and is sufficiently waterproof. All in all I’m more than happy with it. I don’t even notice that I’m wearing it after a few minutes with the way the weight is distributed, but it may be too heavy for some..and it would not be convenient to transport on a ride without wearing it over the shoulder..way too beefy to wrap on the bike itself imo, and would add significant weight to a pack..I can only imagine how hefty the gold version is, but I’ll still be getting one when I get a nicer bike one day!Edit: a larger person may want to get the 55″ if they want to wear it sash-style, I’m relatively skinny at 135 lbs and the 43.5 fits perfectly with little slack.

This lock is heavy. I knew that when I bought it – I want the best security and will compromise with weight. Using for an ebike. You canβt sling this over your shoulder like one girl showed in her review. Itβs not long enough for that. Can wrap around top tube or on a rack. Very sturdy, simple to lock and unlock. Iβm happy with it.

I purchased this to lock to protect my Electric Bike because they are a common target for theft. No lock is a 100% guarantee that your bike will not be stolen, but Seaty lock comes close. I would never use this for my other bikes due to the weight, but for an Electric bike this is a great deterrent to would be thieves.

While I know this could be cut through fairly easily, itβs a very easy to use bike lock. I tried to use a beefier chain, but it was too heavy to manipulate.

I bought the 55″ in silver rated 4.4 lb lock. Not only does it work properly, looks good and it will detour almost any Thief from trying to steal your ride. This lock it’s plenty big and very strong and tough. The gold rated one may be Overkill where it’s almost 10 pounds and takes up a ton of room. The 55″in plenty big enough to lock up a couple of electric scooters or bikes. Perfect size for me. This lock makes the most sense unless you leave your ride in an area that’s known for having a lot of thefts. Both locks will take heavy equipment and some time to get through. I believe this lock will last a long time how sturdy and well built it is. I recommend silver rated for most people.

thought it would be longer. I’ll make it work

Itβs a sturdy chain, so itβs heavy, but thatβs what you need to make it secure. The rectangular locking pin and chain link is much sturdier and more secure than the round, βmushroom-styleβ pins that wear out too easily or malfunction after a while. The neoprene sleeve is nice, because it protects your bike from the chain, but it also holds the chain securely, so the chain doesnβt rattle when you ride.
