My road bike stopped shifting (busted cable), so I have been using the CycleOps Trainer to “ride”. One fine Sunday morning I couldn’t get any resistance. The screw was stripped. After some research, it appears that was happening to people. It has been 8 years… so, I guess it was bound to happen. Purchased this “upgraded and redesigned” clutch. Works perfectly. I’ll be riding my comfort bike in the living room tomorrow… and hopefully back on the road when my road bike comes back from the shop. This piece saved the day!

I purchased this after the one that came on my new trainer didn’t work the spring tension was way to high. This took care of the problem. I am not real happy with saris they just now answered my email to them after 55 days and didn’t even address my questions.

I bought an older CycleOps trainer from my friend but it was missing the L-bolt. I purchased the clutch knob (the trainer came with a cam lever instead of knob) and discovered that the knob wasn’t threaded. Totally smooth inside. I called Saris and they are sending a replacement knob free of charge. I really only needed the L-bolt since the cam lever works with the one I received, but Saris no longer carries the cam lever-related L-bolt (they are different lengths, though not convinced that would be an issue). I searched online but wasn’t able to find anything reliably similar. Saris has good customer service, though $30 for an L-bolt (only part I need) is a little much. Any useful suggestions of what to do with an unthreaded knob? Plus 4 stars for customer service, minus 1 star for faulty item.

I purchased this to replace the “Quick Cam Lever” on my 2007 CycleOps Magneto trainer. The cam lever has a tendency to get deformed where it contacts the hard plastic plate. I’ve gone through a couple now, and I don’t even use the trainer that much. I’m glad to see that they replaced this lever with this torque-limiting knob. It works works wonderfully. Easy to apply the correct pressure to the tire, as it will click once the proper torque is reached. It’s a bit tricky to install, as you have to maneuver the L-bracket through the slot in the plastic resistance plate and then to the securing guides on the trainer frame. To make this easier, I took the bike off the frame, unscrewed the knob from the L-bolt and let the plastic resistance plate go down to the floor. Then, I installed the “L” portion of the bolt onto the frame. I then rotated the resistance plate back into position and guided the threaded portion of the L-bolt through the plate slot. Once the bolt was through the slot, I held the resistance plate in place, and screwed on the knob. Sounds complicated, apologies, but don’t try to install the L-bolt with the knob still attached. It will be a pain if even possible.

As advertised, it allows you to set the proper tension without guesswork. Much better than my old lever-style tension adjuster.

Replaced my broken knob as expected. No problems at all.

After ordering the whole bike system this went bad after about 1 year of light use. This works great to replace and make the tension better just a bummer it went out in the first place.
