Update after 9 Months: The pad is holding together, however there is not enough padding to prevent damage to the lip of my tailgate. The plastic trim piece on the edge of the tailgate is wearing / shredding. As it’s wearing, it has begun to eat into the pad. I’ll be purchasing a hitch rack. I think all of these newer pickups with thick-squared off tailgates will have this issue.————————————————Trying this on a 2018 Chevy Colorado. Too soon to tell how it will hold up, but I’ll give you my current review and update it at the end of the summer.I ordered the Fox pad because I knew other brands didn’t play nice with the thick / deep tailgate on Chevys. The Fox model definitely does fit around the larger tailgate lip better than other brands. The padding is in the correct position and there is no need for pool-noodles or other nonsense. Besides that key factor, this tailgate pad leaves a lot to be desired as far as form and design.Major Design Flaws:- The top loop-straps are useless. They loop through sewn webbing so they never get tight enough to do anything and do not dictate whether your bike will stay upright or bounce. Remove and re-use them for something else.- The underside is not made of soft material. It’s like 600-cordura so clean your tailgate and when you can, remove and hose down your pad. Otherwise this will become a sanding block.- The three straps that hold the pad to the tailgate are sewn poorly to the outside edge of the pad. This makes installation needlessly difficult. If they would have sewn the straps to the inside and put the buckles on the outside, a person could have just dropped the straps through the bottom of the gate. Instead you have to fish the straps through a half-open tailgate. I found a semi-easy way to make this quicker, but this design flaw is thoughtless.- Flip-up covers the backup camera. This is common with all of these pads. Begs the question: WTF? Make the pocket longer so that all pickups can use their backup cam! Why does it need to be a crap-shoot?- Rubber strap pads… without them the bottom of your tailgate will get ruined. This thing should come with them, but I bought a set for $5 locally.- Sewing… I can already see stitches pulling apart after a few uses. Not a good sign.Installation Tip: Get yourself a 24″ cable tie and make a big loop out of it. With your tailgate down and pad in place, place the cable tie loop through the tailgate gap where your strap will go. Bring the tailgate up a little and push some of the strap in to the gate gap. Put the tailgate down, gently pull up the cable tie loop and your strap should pull through.Does it hold a bicycle without damaging it? YESOnce installed, is it easier than a hitch-mount bike rack? MAYBE

This bike pad fits perfectly across my full size Chevy tailgate. It’s easy to install after a few times through the motion. The padding is thick and the tailgate flap seems large enough to accommodate most trucks. The only thing that needed improvement/altering on my part, was the straps (that secure the bike to the pad) on top of the pad are not long enough to go all the way around my newest bike (2022 Santa Cruz Bronson). The frame is really fat and I see a lot of bikes starting to go that way, so just keep this in mind. I think this will be an easy fix by replacing the straps with longer ones, if you have a bike with a thick frame or an e-bike. The straps are not sewn in and you can remove them by sliding them out of the slot they feed through. I’ll update once I find a strap that works. The stock straps are 12″ x 1″, I’m going to order these:https://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-Adjustable-Organizing-VEL-30094-USA/dp/B08NX686B8/ref=sr_1_3?crid=YIFLSHOU7NKU&dchild=1&keywords=15%2Bvelcro%2Bstraps&qid=1635347263&qsid=133-5680142-3307204&sprefix=15%22%2Bvelcro%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-3&sres=B08NX686B8%2CB078HH5H3N%2CB011WGG52C%2CB003WB6MYM%2CB00006RSP1%2CB07MWFRWKZ%2CB00D31LO1M%2CB00M8H2IQ2%2CB00JJPPNHM%2CB00M8H2VGO%2CB00M8H5YT0%2CB07DBBPNSF%2CB071DGMNMX%2CB07SMD8QVH%2CB08MZYWQ3L%2CB07CZGQNY3&th=1I'll update once installed. This pad still gets a 5 star rating over the cheaper tailgate pads, it costs more for a reason!11/14/21 update. I purchased the straps I listed above and they fit my bike frame just right. Easy fix if you have a fatter frame.

Fit my ram well. good quality. A little awkward to thread the straps back out of the little plastic parts. I only wish they would have a clip instead. I might try to angle cut the end and melt them to make it a little easier. And add a loop on one end to be able to hang it when not in use. The flap for the tailgate handle and rearview camera is in the right position but if the flap is down the rear view camera is useless. I just flip it up and use the extra straps to hold it up and it stays folded up even from highway speeds.

I just received this one day before this posting. I bought the small size for my Ford Maverick. This fits almost perfectly. I have to fold the edges in to close the tailgate because the Maverick is a smaller truck. It’s not a problem at all to do that. The window allows the backup camera to work. The pad covers all the way to just above the bumper. I put 4 bikes, including a really heavy electric bike in the back. No markings on the truck tailgate after all that weight. I’ll update the review if anything changes.

Would like to see 5 straps so it cinches tighter all around. But works great! I would buy again. Might not ever need to. Used with 3 bikes a dozen or so times in and out and nothings happened

Fits my Tacoma tailgate well. Straps aren’t as good as higher end options but good enough for the price point.

After three months of installing, every single mounting strap broke off on one end, so now I have a pad for my tailgate but no way to velcro the bike to the tailgate… I can use bungee cords, but it’s clear that quality control on this item is non-existent.

Love the product! I have it on my 2013 ford raptor and I just love the look of it and the protection it offers!
