I was looking for a unique bottle cage for my custom bike and this one fit nicely. I really only needed it to hold batteries for lights. I usually use a hydration pack for water needs. Although I wished it were a crow this black sparrow is nice. The other birds designs and colors are also eye catching. I have had other similar designed cages so I am anxious to see how well the wings that holds the bottle hold up. Often this area gets bent from laying the bike down on the ground. Then it gets harder to insert the bottle or the aluminum breaks. They seam like a company that enjoys what they do and do it well.

I have several of the PDW cages, and theyβre all nice. This version of the bird is a little different than my others as it has slots in its wings where my others have solid wings. This one looks a bit nicer due to that. Itβs very well made, and I really like the way it looks.Itβs not the lightest cage in the world, but itβs not overly heavy. If you like the way it looks, go for it, you wonβt be disappointed.

When I bought my new bike, I went down the rabbit hole of bottle holders and came across Portland Design Works, then found the sparrow. I immediately had to have it since my last name is bird related and because it makes my bike look like it has little Hermes wings from the side. Also, it’s just really flipping cool. It fits my bike beautifully and doesn’t block the inner-tube storage right below the bottle holder, so I don’t have to unscrew it to get to my tools. It’s sturdy, secure and nothing has fallen out of it even when I almost went airborne going over some rough bumps at high speed during a triathlon. And, people comment on it all of the time. I will be a loyal PDW bottle holder buyer from now on- they make a great product!

Great looking and function for our fat bikes some customization.

Unique product in appearance. Good finish and fit. Lower mount hole is elongated for fit. Just installed so no comment on functionality but reviews are good. Put a bird on it and make it pretty! (Portlandia reference) ?

I love this thing. It’s sleek, unique, and does it’s job better or at least as well as the “name brand” cages I have. A very snug but accessible fit on my bottles. I get constant comments on it when others see my bike as an interesting piece of art. I just love it, and the bronze/copper color is a nice break from the standard black or crayon colored plastic cages. It IS made of metal so if you’re a wannabe race champion you’ll probably scoff at the added grams, but the weight is negligible. And this will NEVER break. Ever. Those $50 bongrager cages, their plastic, it will wear down and snap one day. This thing will last forever and will look cool forever. The copper color is surface only though, so if you chip it it does reveal the surgical stainless steel beneath. I dont see this as a con though, it’s just natural to the product. I’ve run this sparrow for 6-months now and have one small nick on it that shows the silver beneath. gives it character.Plus, i go a lot faster with the sparrow on my bike. Adds at least a few watts π
