Editing now in 2022 to report that we still LOVE this helmet for our 5, nearly 6 year old! When he outgrows this I will purchase the same brand again! Super simple to adjust as he grows! This helmet fits my 3, nearly 4 year old son perfectly with room to grow, with many different ways to adjust the fit. It offers a snug (but not tight) fit that stays in place while heβs riding his bicycle. I love how the helmet fits properly in the back and doesnβt slip and slide like other helmets Iβve seen preschoolers wear. Iβd highly recommend this and purchase again- safety is super important to our family and while this brand of helmet was more expensive than other brands- this minimal extra cost is fully worth the extra protection.

If you arenβt super familiar with helmets, or are just generally easily frustrated as I am, quick tip that the straps of this helmet will slide through the back with a little bit of force.Maybe it was the struggling toddler under the helmet, but I was super frustrated when the helmet fit perfect but the chin buckle was just too far to one side. Lo and behold, straps slide through the back… face palm, but perhaps this will help some other sleep deprived mothers out there!Other than that small struggle, this helmet is great; color is bright for visibility (I got the lime), itβs super lightweight, and most importantly, safe! The small fits my husky two year old great.

This is our second giro scamp but first for a 12 month old. She loves going for rides so itβs been great. Doesnβt fight wearing it and itβs pretty light. Doesnβt seem to bother her at all. Love the color selection also.

Great fit, after adjusting the straps which is easier said than done. Otherwise its good; lightweight, and fits true to size range, with enough room to grow into.

Well made and brightly colored to be seen

It is a very safe helmet with mips technology

We got this for our 21 month old. She is at the 99 percentile for head size. She is almost at the next size helmet as per their chart. And yet, we can’t tighten it to fit her head as they suggest. Close enough isn’t good enough. Looked on line for detailed videos in case we did something wrong, no detailed videos/instructions to be found. Just a few basic ones.

I ordered the Giro Scamp MIPS helmet which was a good deal from this seller for the price. What I received was the non MIPS version which was very clearly used (missing lettering, frays on the nylon straps). Basically MIPS helmets have an additional slip plane built in which allows for rotation of the skull on impact in order to prevent damage to the brain. I felt this was an important feature for my 2 year old and worth the extra ~$25 bucks. Disappointed in the misrepresentation, but Giro makes great helmets that fit well and are comfortable. My son seems to like it so it’s not worth the hassell to return it. Just beware of some sellers out there.
