I’ve used the C17 on two rides so far, about 85 miles total. It’s mounted on a carbon Trek Madone that’s a true road bike, not a commuter or gravel bike. My riding position on it is moderately low and I spend a good amount of time in the drops. I like the saddle a lot but my experience with has been very different than other reviewers’ seem to be. I have ridden a Brooks B17 leather saddle shortly, and I use a Selle Anatomica X leather saddle on my commuter bike. This saddle feels NOTHING like either of those. My initial impression was that it felt just like the Bontrager RL saddle I took off the bike. Once you encounter rough pavement, though, it’s obvious that it is MUCH more comfortable than a standard light road saddle. It does flex and absorb road noise beautifully, but it does not have the hammock-like feel of a broken in leather saddle. I’m very happy with that because the soft leather saddles just feel (and look) wrong on an aggressive road bike to me. My second ride on the saddle was over 60 miles with much of it hiding in the drops from a vicious headwind, and I had no undue soreness. If my legs had been better I could have done another 40-50 miles on the saddle with ease. In addition to thicker bar tape and 25mm tires, this saddle completes the comfortable edges that will let me ride a fast bike well past the century mark.

Worked for my personal body configuration — as always with seats, your configuration may vary.Easy installation, nothing out of the ordinary. Tested setup on a couple of short rides (4-8 miles) to tweak the seat angle and height. The cambium is vertically thinner than my prior WTB seat, but the crankbolt to seat-top measurements are the same. I did need to modify the nose to hood measurements slightly due to shape of saddle. Then a 20 mile test, followed a few days later by a 200K brevet. Success!Total distance prior to this review is 182 miles. 200K is where I started to notice my old seat, and considering that I didn’t notice the seat on last weekends ride, I’m confident that it will scale up nicely to the 300, 400, 600K distances. Why Cambium vs. Leather? My regular commute is mixed mode bike/bus, with the seat getting the brunt of the the weather and road spray on the front of the bus on I-5 in Seattle. Cambium provides the comfort of wipe it down and go without needing to stick a plastic bag over it.

Purchased for my daily commuter / grocery getter, I am extremely happy with this saddle. I also have a Brooks Swallow on my track bike, and I was very impressed with the out-of-box comfort the Cambium provides. The slate version is beautiful and well crafted. I love it.Despite my love for the product, it gets 4 stars for the following (not incredibly important) reasons:1. After reading other reviews on the internet, the first thing I did was to add Loctite to the “rivet” bolts. They were not very tight out of the box.2. I ride in jeans, chinos, and suit pants in a moderate climate (read: minimal sweat). After only a few days, the slate color had started to turn to a bit more of a natural canvas look. I personally enjoy the “broken in” look of well used objects, but I can see how others might not.IMPORTANT INFO:Rider inseam: 33″Rider weight: 155lb

The Brooks C17 Cambium saddle on a Thudbuster ST seat post! I ride a rigid 29er Hybrid (mountain frame with road tires) and for the last 4 years it had a WTB Devo Carbon seat on a rigid stem on it. That was fine when I rode daily which kept my butt broken in, but this season I’ve only been able to get out on the bike a couple of times a month and the Devo was killing me after a few miles. On a friend’s recommendation I put the Thudbuster stem on the bike which helped a lot, but I was still sore for a few days after a ride. Then another friend let me ride his road bike with a C17 saddle on it and I ordered mine that evening. Rather than put the rigid stem back on the bike I just put the C17 on the Thudbuster and WOW, I’m glad I did. I have the #5 (medium) elastomer in the Thudbuster and the combination isn’t mushy at all, but it does a wonderful job of absorbing the bumps; both big and little. I rode 26 miles this morning and I’m not sore at all. Yeah there’s a weight penalty, but I sure don’t notice it while I’m riding.

In retrospect, I wish I had tried out the women’s version of this saddle with the slightly wider seat for my slightly wider backside just to see if that one is even more comfortable. I will probably get one in the future if budget allows. But I am quite happy with this saddle. The materials are such high quality and it is very comfortable. I expect to have this saddle a long time. I love that I didn’t have to worry about it in the rain like with leather. I was nervous about screws after reading other reviews, but have not had any problems after 6 months of almost daily riding. Haven’t put touring miles on it yet, but have done 10 mile days without any discomfort. It was worth it to take the time to make many adjustments to get the angle and placement just right. I have a 1974 Raleigh Super Grand Prix, and even though this is superficial, I love how gorgeous it looks on this already handsome bike.

Love this saddle. Have maybe 400 miles on it now and it requires NO break-in time. My first ride out my brother got on my bike and said “That’s cheating”. Love the flex, almost gives you some extra suspension. I may pick up a C15 to try that out, maybe. This saddle is A LOT bigger than my last ones.

I was hoping this seat would be extremely comfortable and it is compared to the stock seat but I was hoping for more.
