I bought one of these to try first, as the frames of our LectricBikes are rather thick, and the first two locks weren’t long enough, or robust enough, since ebikes seem to be the first choice of bike thieves these days. I’ve had a bike stolen, and I’ve been super cautious since then. This is the second of these locks that I’ve bought, as the first passed muster, and we have two of these bikes. The locks will only go from the frame to a stationary object, when used to lock the bike to that fixed object, but at least they’ll do that. A long version folding lock would also, but they’re more expensive for one which is similarly robust. On the downside, this is probably heavier. We’ll still need to add other protection for the wheels (I’m thinking a frame lock on the rear wheel if it will work with the bike design), but at least this is a good start. It won’t stop a determined thief with the right tools, but at least it would significantly slow him/her down, and make stealing our bikes less attractive. If my review was helpful, please click the button below.

The lock definitely feels sturdy, and for my somewhat large e-bike this size is wide and long enough for pretty much all bike racks I’ve come across – it’s only too short when the bike rack is perpendicular against the wall, in which case the lock can only be connected to the wheel instead of the frame. The key hole is a bit odd. You can rotate it partially when the key is not fully inserted, which can cause some fiddling and turning back and forth, but it’s not a huge issue. One thing to note is that this bike lock opens from both ends, so you can completely separate the U part of the lock and the latching part. This is in contrast to the U-locks that swings opens from one end.I can’t speak for the side of security, but on the side of convenience when using a cable lock for the wheels, I found it annoying to need to hold onto the two separated parts of the U-lock while also threading the cable lock in, so much so I just got a skewer lock for the wheel and just U-lock the bike frame. Maybe this would be less frustrating with a single-latch lock, but I haven’t tried it.Finally, on the note of the 1-year free insurance: the details on their website says that when submitting a claim, they require you to provide the broken lock so if the lock is picked and everything taken, it seems that they would not pay out. This looked fine to me, but if you were expecting an all-encompassing insurance this is not it.

Big enough to get around a large bike rack and still through a wheel and frame. No regrets.

This d lock is really really heavy. Not sure itโs worth the price. Thereโs a rubber outside around the main element that rubbed away super easily while biking which kinda sucked. But we havenโt had any issues with it yet. Very study and seems safe! I would buy if you really love your bike or need to lock up a couple.

Difficult to review something that has worked very well when nothing has happened. Nothing has happened thankfully. I haven’t had it or the bike long… about a month. It does not come with any kind of carrying mount and I’m having trouble finding a way to carry it. My bike being full suspension is part of the problem. For now I bungee cord it to my bike rack. I researched locks for a couple weeks, they all can be cut, but this one needs to be cut twice so it doubles the time needed. Probably not going to do better than that so I bought it. The bike “insurance” that is offered sounds very difficult to meet. They haven’t replied to my question yet (how do you provide a receipt for purchase when you purchase from Amazon?) so don’t let that be a factor in purchase. All this said… would I buy again… Yes.

This is a very heavy duty and well made lock. I purchased this to use with my e-bike. I live in a rural/urban area outside of Phoenix, AZ (not a high crime area) and I’ve used it a few times going into the local drug store and grocery store. Locking my e-bike and leaving it with this lock on it made me feel that my e-bike was protected. It easily fit into my Arkel trunk along with my additional stuff (repair kit, etc.). It is a little difficult to lock onto a bike rack, but once locked in place appears very secure. My only complaint is that this is the LS (long shank) lock, but the shank could be a little longer in my opinion. Yes it’s a little pricey, but it’s a small investment when protecting a $2-3K e-bike.

this lock is pretty heavy and will probably detract thieves without an electric tool. Still, I wouldn’t let my ebike stay outside for more than 10 mins in NYC. Have used this in combination with another lock and have had no problems.

Just as described. Love it.
