- Brand: MAXXIS
- Tire Type: Tubeless
- Bike Type: Mountain Bike
- Warranty Type: Limited
- Material: Rubber
- Tensile Strength: 50 PSI
- Tread Type: Knobby
- 3C MAXXTERRA: An intermediate compound configuration used in select mountain tires. 3C MaxxTerra is softer and offers more traction than 3C MaxxSpeed, yet provides better treadwear and less rolling resistance than MaxxGrip.
- EXO: An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tires. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.
- TUBELESS READY: Sealant-compatible rubber is used with a Tubeless Ready bead to securley lock to the rim with, or without, an innertube.

I am always critical of the price tag for MTB tires. It’s just absolutely ridiculous what they charge for these considering how long they last and durability in comparison to my truck tires. I just wanted to make clear where my perspective is.Of all the tire brands I have tried now, and there are many.. I have had the longest life from this Maxxis Minion DHF. I run these tubeless at about 27-30 psi on the rear, with Orange Seal tire sealant. I have a full suspension bike with 6″ of travel. I ride at least once per week almost exclusively on single track in the Colorado Rockies. Terrain varies from damp forest floor to dusty, rocky high desert. I don’t ride in winter or on snow. This purchase was a replacement of the same tire. I rode this tire from April 2019 through July 2020. This is a good life in my opinion compared to the other tires I’ve ridden, far exceeding the life of tires such as Specialized Butcher Grid, Purgatory Grid, Ground Control, Kenda Nevegal, and a few others. With those tires, I was lucky to get 3 months of riding before the loss of traction was intolerable and dangerous. With the Nevegal, I struggled to get more than 2 months of riding life out of them. With the Maxxis Minion DHF, traction in both braking and climbing were great. I really wasn’t noticing any fade in either until the last few weeks. Then they just “fell off” fast. But that didn’t bother me as I put a lot of hard miles on this tire. It’s impressive that they held so well for so long, then the drop off was severe and fast. I would recommend this tire to anyone who is riding hard and often. I still think $70 is ridiculous for a bike tire, but I think at least these won’t end up costing me more than my truck tires in the long run as the Kenda’s and Specialized tires were.

Maxxis minion DHF is your default to go tire for trail and enduro. This is the 2.4 which means that it is thicker than your XC tire but still thin enough to help you with a reduced surface area. The design gives super good traction even in muddy, rainy conditions. I have used these for years. The 3c Maxx Terra compound will provide more grip than its 2 compound counterparts and, if you are doing trails more than asphalt, it shouldn’t wear off any faster than any other tire. Asphalt does seem to reduce the longevity of the MaxxTerra a bit.If you are more into lifts + downhill trails you might want to look for the 2.5 or higher that will give you more contact area.

Iβve only recently started riding mountain bikes, and I made a lot of changes to my bike over the winter so I canβt say for sure that the difference I feel is all the tire. That being said I have ridden on two wheels enough to know how I like my front tire to feel. With the tire that came on my bike I could never find the correct pressure. After some research I figured out it wasnβt ment to be tubeless, so figured that was my problem. The Minion dhf seems to make my bike hold the trail without feeling like the sidewall is folding over. Which has made me more confident and thus faster. I highly recommend this tire but nothing is perfect so I donβt give 5 stars.

I like everything about these tires especially the cornering grip but it make my mad that they sell them as 2.6 width when they are clearly 2.5 on the button. Itβs still my favorite front tire though.

Worth the money.

The Maxxis Minion DHF 3C (2.5 X 29) tire improved confidence over roots and in cornering. I went from a Knobby Nic, that admittingly rolls a bit easier, and is nicer on firmer ground. I had to give the DHF a few extra watts to do the same pace, but it gives more support over the rough stuff quite nicely – it feels like a fast tractor tire. Major confidence builder in corners!
