The bike arrived within the promised timeframe. The parts were well packed and assembly was both minimal and reasonably straightforward. The necessary tools and hardware were included. The derailleur system was reasonably well calibrated out of the box.The seat is functional and solid. The mounting pole is compatible with standard seat mounting hardware, and the ‘flip up’ functionality is not impaired by the aftermarket seat installation. The included cargo rack is solid and seems reasonably well built, and has held up to loads of over 200lbs without deforming or notable wear. The brake light is functional and reasonably high visibility, the headlight is usable, but not great. While the throttle feels like an analog system, it is actually digital, the engine will either be off, or rev up to the set speed.Since receiving the bike I have put about 700 miles on it over the course of about a month. So far the general performance has been reasonable, with the caveat that this is clearly a low price, entry point machine.Top speed on flat, paved terrain, using only the motor, is about 20-21 MPH. Climbing hills that falls off, mildly for minor grades, sharply on moderate to steep grades. On steep grades, the bike tops out at roughly 6-8 MPH.Range varies a great deal based on weather, riding conditions, and riding behavior. It will also likely vary based on the rider’s weight and size. Performance falls notably on loose sand. While the bike CAN work on sand, expect significantly impaired handling and commensurately lower operating speeds unless the sand/dirt is well packed. I have not yet tested the bike in snowy conditions. For all of the following range calculations, keep in mind that I am a 260lbs six foot tall airbrake strapped to the back of the bike. I am also riding in a rural area with a combination of paved, gravel, and dirt roads of varying quality, and a number of hills of varying grade. There is also variable head/tailwinds.Lighter or smaller riders will likely see somewhat better performance numbers, as will those who primarily ride on flat and/or well maintained roads, or in areas with negligible wind issues. Heavier or larger riders, or those riding on worse roads or with extensive hills, will likely see worse performance. At the lowest speed setting, pedaling steadily but slowly in high gear, I have seen ranges of approximately 32 miles on a charge, and approximately ten miles an hour as an average speed. At the middle speed setting, with similar pedaling, I have seen ranges of approximately 27 miles a charge, at speeds averaging fifteen miles an hour.At the highest speed setting, I have seen ranges of approximately 22 miles a charge, at speeds averaging 19 miles an hour. At this speed setting, I am not able to appreciably keep up with the pedal assist using the gearing on the bike. It is effectively running in motor only mode. More physically able riders likely could, which would add to the potential range. The bike is compatible with a standard axle bracket for mounting trailers, though this is not included and must be installed yourself or by a bike shop.I have not had any noticeable issues with the functionality of the bike with a trailer installed, though of course one should expect some level of range/speed loss depending on the weight and surface area of the load being transported. My use case for the trailer is primarily groceries and hauling household trash to the transfer site, and for these purposes the effect on range and speed is effectively null.In terms of durability, I have not had any serious issues with the bike. The components that were pre-assembled were properly tightened and were not in danger of coming loose. The bike technician I hired to check over the bike after delivery/assembly noted no issues with any of the mechanisms or setup. The hinges and brackets for the folding mechanism remain solid and secure after 700 miles of riding.

Great fun-to-ride bike. All the electronics work as advertised.Pedal assist is an ingenious invention and works with the slightest pressure applied to pedalingI rode the bike without the battery and it was impossible for me to pedal up an incline which made me realize the value of pedal assist. The 7 gears work well.Breaking worked well.I took my bike in to a bike shop, as recommended, to make sure i assembled it safely. The recommended a longer seat stem due to my height of 6’3″. So now I have 2 seats and stems. One for seated riding and one for extended leg pedaling. I doubt I will really ever use other than seated riding. For me, my seat was/is very hard to lock into position. Fortunately it is something you won’t do very often.I had a few issues but always got a helpful response within 48 hours.Don’t leave the key in the battery. Mine fell over and destroyed the key cylinder. Fortunately HeyBike replaced it for free. Amazing.I take my battery inside due to the suggested temperature range of 55 to 77 degrees for optimal battery performance/life as we have major temperature swings. I set an alarm for 6 yo 7 hrs when charging my battery to remind me to unplug it to help mitigate the possibility of fire.I bought the bike just to get me from point-A to point-B and was surprised at also how much FUN it is to ride. The steering lock is meant to face at about 135 degree angle and not aligned with the frame as one of the pictures suggested.I accidentally unplugged the bike-front-light cable but was able to easily reattach it.I am very happy, so far, with the bike overall. I think it might actually be underpriced so I would grab one if you are considering buying one.EDIT 10-29-22:I wanted to add some more helpful info.I found the default side mirrors lacking and so I ordered a camera/monitor pair and was very happy. But the monitor semi-blocked the Pedal-Assist controller so I bought a handle-bar extension and successfully added it and then the rear-view monitor (135 degree view) was out of the way…but…I accidentally disconnected a wire from the left handle-bar break. It was a cord that seemed to tell the motor to turn off if there was any sign of either handle-bar-break not working. So I spent 75 dollars having a gadget-repairman resolder the wires (2 wires). It took 2 people to resolder the wire. (Regular bike stores informed me that they do not do electrical repair)Also, I now charge the battery while it is inside of an aluminum garbage-can…just in case there is a fire. I suspect fires a rare but it was just a clever prevention method that I thought of.I discovered that when changing gears, it does not go, say from gear 2 to gear 5. It goes 2,3,4,5. So you have to expect a logical sequential transition of gear-changing.I learned from a another poster that the pedal-assist control with its 4 settings (0,1,2,3) is supposed to use 1 for flat road surfaces and 3 for inclines. Zero is for NO pedal assist.I remove the 7 pound battery to make the bike a bit lighter when loading it into my SUV. I found I needed to two 48-inch ;bungy chords to secure the bike during transport. I crisscrossed them from rear-seat-belt straps to 2 hooks in the floor. Works very well.Everyone askes me how fast it can go. I have never gone past about 13 miles an hour of the maximum 20 mph. I avoid cars and try to go out of my way to avoid others on same or approaching paths.I suggest getting a fatter comfortable seat cushion. The rear red brake-light FLASHES when breaks are applied.I added saddle-bags and use them a lot for mail, water, extra battery, camera. At the strong suggestion of others, i bought a helmet, knee-pads, and elbow-pads.The GoPro that sticky-attaches to a helmet I found worked best over chest or head band

This was my first of three Heybike’s. I purchased another Mars and a Cityscape for Florida. These are so easy, fun and enjoyable if you ever try an electric bike like a Heybike, you will hang up your traditional bike and never go back.Packaging is excellent and well protected with a lot of packing material to keep the Heybike safe. Removal and assembly is straight forward and comes with all the tools you need to assemble them. Unpacking your first Heybike with all the packing, reading and set up might take you an hour, your second bike will take you half that and only be about 30 minutes. It is a fun, enjoyable experience if you can use a screwdriver and Allen wrench. My recommendation is to take your time, remove the battery from the bike and take it inside. Open the accessory box with the charger and plug in the battery and wait for a full charge and the power plug light to turn green while you assemble. Be prepared for the need to inflate the tires, as they come with only a bit of air in them.Riding is a joy. Be prepared for a jerk of power on your first run, as these bikes are powerful. The upright position of the Heybike Mars is very comfortable and enjoyable on long rides. Ride is smooth with the big tires on the Mars and braking feels very assured and responsive when you need it. As with all electric bikes, they can be a bit heavy, but the folding nature of the Mars will help you bring it indoors for the winter or inclement weather when needed.Don’t forget the accessories too. The bag, mirrors and locks. The bags are great and a must-have along with the phone holder and mirrors. All around good value, easy set up and miles of fun. Customer support is responsive and there when or if you need them with questions.
