They are nice straddle cable carriers. The straddle cable slides freely along this, so these are best for cantilever brakes that have individual spring tension adjustment (like Paul touring brakes for example). My one complain is that the nylon sheath probably won’t last very long. But that’s no big deal, you could easily take it out, and then they will function like any other straddle cable carrier.

Nice product.

Easy to set and it seems really sturdy. The plastic tube helps them stay centered too which is nice. No more of those crappy folded metal ones you see on every bike before 1990. Having two set screws makes me feel good about it staying secure.

Easy set-up. Clean look and work well. Smooth.

Exactly as advertised and on time.

It is much easier to thread and secure the brake cable on this unit; plus it just looks a whole lot better that the original stamped cable carrier. A real upgrade for not much money !!

Perfect upgrade for my older mountain bike’s cantilever brakes. The dual set screws hold tight and the sleeve lets the straddle cable slide surprisingly well. Looks and works better than the original stamped straddle carrier hook. One point to consider: the set screws require a 2.5mm allen/hex wrench to tighten or loosen them. The wrench is not included and most cycling multi tools don’t include that size(at least none of mine had that size), so keep that in mind when setting up your tool kit for road repairs.

I bought these to replace the stock cable carriers in an old mountain bike, which would chronically slip when braking hard. There are two Allen set screws holding the cable in place, and they can be torqued hard. After installing these I crashed my bike and spun around the handlebars. The front brake cable snapped but the cable carrier was still hanging on.The only limitation is the nylon sleeves, which seem like they might fray eventually. But even then, the carrier will probably work fine without them.
