This is a early review on this Grand Prix 4 Season foldable 700x25mm. I also have a early review on Gartorskin. This is my first Conti brand tire. here is my story! Got a new bike in my collection, and the Mavic Yksion Comp comes with the bike is so flimsy I am sure it won’t have a chance to survivor on NYC roads. And that is the reason I run tubeless on my other bikes include 2 road and 2 MTB. However, on this new bike I desire to run regular tires because I like the wheel set that comes with the bike and I don’t wants to spend extra thousands to get a new set of tubeless wheels. So I did many research about puncture proof tires. I finally pull a trigger on this setup, Gartorskin on the rear and the Grand prix 4 season on the front. My goal is have less to no flat, beside I don’t do racing so I am ok with bit more weight. The grand prix on the scale is 210g which is very light weight. On Conti website they listed 240g.These tire are directional, the making is camouflage on the sidewall. need to pay attention on it. All tire information like psi, size etc… also camouflage on the sidewall, very hard to read!Mounting them on the wheel is easy and no difficult. I mention this many times on my other tire review. Don’t use lever to mount or dismount tires. Many time the lever will damage the bead without knowing it also may have big chance to pinch the tube. So don’t complain the bead fail, please try not to plier the tire onto the wheel. The size is true 25mm, not like other review say. They must receive a miss packing item which maybe is return form other buyer. Over all this is a very good quality tire. I also option to use Vittoria Latex tube, Conti don’t recommend to use them. However I may plan to inject Orange sealant into it. which latex tube seal more better than butyl. So thats it for now, I will update after 500 miles on them π

I put a pair of these on my bike last August, and I’m just about to reorder them (right after I finish this review). I got my second flat with them today and noticed that the cords are starting to show on the back tire; the front one still has a lot of wear left. I’ve done about 1750 miles on them, mostly on a pretty good bike path without a lot of hazards and with pretty smooth pavement, but I’m a big guy – weighing about 250 pounds – so a more normal sized person would probably do better. I’m no Tour de France threat, but I ride fairly hard compared to other people I see on the path – on my usual workout ride I average between 18.5 and 19.5 mph and I don’t think rolling resistance of these tires is a limiting factor for me in any way. I’ve been pretty good about running them at 120 psi, which I think helps them reject potential puncture sources. The first flat I got was from riding over a tack; nothing would have stopped that. The flat today was a pinch flat from hitting a hard seam in some temporary asphalt where construction crews are repairing part of the path. I suspect if I rode more often on the actual roadway I’d get more flats than I do, but overall I think this is a good, tough tire.

I switched to the Grand Prix 4 Season from the 4000S, mostly because of sidewall failures. I immediately liked the 4 – Season. It felt durable and handled well. I had more confidence when the road was damp from fog, or encountering the sand in the tunnel at Camp Pendleton. I was very happy with the tires, and probably put 1,500 miles on my rear Kinlin wheel with no problems. But last month I changed to a set of FarSports carbon wheels. With less than 500 miles on the rear wheel I had a pinch flat at high speed, and had to replace the rear tire due to a thin 3/8″ horizontal split in the thin part of the sidewall, just above the rim. I know that I hit a small chuck hole that day while looking in the mirror, but other than that I cannot think of a reason for the split. Is it the tire? Is it the rider? Is it the roads? Is it the fact I ride a recumbent racer and the handlebars interfere with my view of the road, making it more likely to hit the occasional chuck hole? As a well-known English songwriter wrote, “Don’t ask me; I don’t know.”In sum, the Grand Prix 4-Season is a good daily driving tire. I replaced the one that failed with another, and bought a backup. But, I’m not thrilled with the number of Continental tires which have had a sidewall failure.

These tires are great in general. They provide better traction than the gatorskins in terms of wet surfaces. Cornering is fantastic, they’re comfortable and fast. The problem is that they start to fall apart after some months (regardless of mileage). Now, my bike is always outside and I’ve had other tires last forever despite this. These ones, however, have a weak spot for sunlight and the tread just falls off, leaving you with an exposed nylon interior that will soon be punctured. Honestly, it’s a shame, because they’re really fun.

I was so glad to find these tires still available. I got a drywall screw in the older tires that otherwise held up beautifully and are very smooth. Even after getting the screw through the tire, I replaced the tube and the tire held up for several rides. But I wanted to avoid trouble and replaced them with thieve new tires. Definitely worth the price. Also, happy with the shipping.

A more comfortable ride on a road bike. Switched from 700×23 cm. Uses a slightly lower PSI than 700 x23 cm. Good for training and day tripping.

Good tire. Seems a bit slower then the 4000s,5000s. It’s grippy though.
