Finally, another comfortable shoe from Five Ten. The VXi edition just did not fit my wide feet like previous editions of the Freerider line have and were actually too stiff and made my feet feel unstable. These, on the other hand, are the correct width and stiffness to be comfortable on a day of pedaling. If you need more armor without sacrificing much for comfort, go with the Impacts. If you can do without the peak of toe protection, then use these as they are lighter than impacts.

Before I bought these shoes I had been riding several different kinds of skate shoes, tearing the soles up and wanting more traction I decided to give these a try.Out of the box, they look really nice, great padding and stiffness. Color is almost blueish, but very similar to the picture. comes with a set of alternate tan laces that look great. The sole is quite tough and hard for walking around, but still comfortableWhat a huge difference these shoes make! the first thing I noticed when riding is the huge amount of grip you get on the pedals, if you have a good set of platform pedals, your feet aren’t going anywhere! Planted! The sole is hard enough to keep your foot firmly on the pedal, which is great for good strong pedaling. I’ve had them for a few months now with quite a few miles on them, and they have held up superbly.TLDR: these shoes are friggin amazing.

I’m a 13, typical width. Fits right. I have high arches and they are comfortable, even on longer ridesβthe arch support is surprisingly sufficient. Not flashy. Matte black and durable. Gotten wet a few times and they still don’t stink, but I place them up on a shelf near an air vent to facilitate drying after every ride. Very durable (and extremely sticky) tread. I ride nearly 1/4″ pins and they are just beginning to wear through at the pin contact areas, but I’ll probably get another 400 miles out of them. Very flat-bottomed as designed, so they aren’t something you’d wear around town with comfort, but great for riding flats. I’d buy another pair.

The fit is very, very snug, but it feels like they will stretch out enough as they break in. I’d recommend wearing extra thin socks with them at first. If your feet are on the large end of your size range, maybe order a half size up.Other than that, they’re a great pair of shoes. The soles are very stiff, which is perfect for biking. The grip is worlds better than the athletic shoes I had been using, which is great for around town riding when you don’t want clips.I can’t comment on longevity yet, as I’ve only had them for a week or so. The workmanship is good, though. No loose threads or out of place stitching. The canvas feels like quality material. Overall, I’m very pleased with these shoes.

I don’t typically buy clothing/shoes online, but I could not find these anywhere locally to check-out. Free returns, so I felt safe. These are fantastic shoes/sneakers! I bought them for mountain bike riding, but have been wearing them almost a week exclusively and they were instantly comfortable. No mesh for summer heat, but they do breathe surprisingly well. I was initially hesitant to buy canvas sneaks as it has been maybe 30+ years since I had anything but some sort of mesh in summer sneakers, but these pleasantly surprised. Hoping for a little less cooling come fall anyway. Super grippy on my pedals, yet comfortable for all day sitting or running around doing errands/yard work. I opted for dark grey (nearly black) and they look great; they come with a second set of khaki colored laces to change from the dark grey ones already laced. I am very pleased with the purchase and highly recommend them.

I bought these shoes for my husband after buying another style that were too small for him. He did some more research and decided to try these in a 13 instead of his normal size 12. He absolutely loves these shoes. He has had a massive foot injury in the past, so he needs comfortable and supportive shoes. He says that they are good for biking because the soles stick to the pedals really well. He likes these so much that he wears them even when he isn’t biking. I like that he finally has a pair of comfortable shoes that don’t look like old man shoes.

As far as fit goes, it was slightly smaller (about a half size) than other brands. But for biking, it’s a great choice. The grip on the shoe makes sure your foot doesn’t slide off and rip up your shins in the process. The quality of the shoe itself is very appealing and should hold up against the wear and tear of biking for a while. These shoes look elegant enough to take out for normal trips around town even if you first dust them off from the trails. My only grip was the fit of the shoe. Started with a size 11.5 but stepped up to a 12. Now I’m thinking I should have got a 12.5. Normally I wear a 11.5/12.

Have changed the game of biking if you wear flats. Vans DO NOT COMPARE in support grip and comfort. I even wear these shoes in the winter riding(20 degrees) and they allow my toes to move and keep me warm. Must have for flats. Moderately water proof… you can pull your foot out of a total submerged muck puddle and keep a somewhat dry sock… Iβll never ride with another shoe as long as Iβm riding flats.
