Way overpriced and annoyingly proprietary. That being said….man this thing makes wheelbuilding a breeze. Much much much much…….much much faster than a 4 sided spoke key. It doesn’t matter the exit angle of the spoke from the rim, since you can tighten this from outside the rim. Heads and shoulders above “slotted” or “flat head” spokes when building a wheel. I find when using aluminum spokes and building a wheel, often times, by the time I finish I’ve ever worn the nipple a bit just from getting the wheel built before I even ride the thing. With squorx now, all of the truing and spoke tightening can be done from outside the rim.

Admittedly, I resented having to buy a special tool for my new wheel build; however the process of putting this IndustryNine/DT Swiss wheel was FAR easier than others. The “squorx” nipples sit perfectly in the wrench, unlike traditional flat or squared spoke nipples. Assembly was fast, tensioning even easier as the tool finds its way automatically into the hoop. This was the fastest wheel I’ve built and will most likely stay with this product line as a result. Squorx nipples fit my standard Sapim CX-Ray spokes.

This is great for those nipples. It’s a really long to reach into deep rims. Just be careful that you don’t have the nipple fall out in a deep rim. Hula-hoop rims aren’t a good thing. (To help get the nipple and washers out, turn the rim so the valve hole is on the bottom, and shake the rim up and down, turning the rim both radially on the horizontal and vertical planes.Insert the nipples from the bottom of the rim, and then, holding them in, turn the rim to stick the spoke in and get a few turns. It’ll save some heartache and frustration. (I dropped two, and had them out in seconds)

grabs squorx nipples well. laced up a wheel with aluminum nipples without stripping.

Works very well. Far superior to standard nipple wrenches.Note: seat the wrench all the way into the spoke nipple. Top half of nipples can snap off when you apply significant pressure.Note: can’t be used for tuning once you put your rum strip on.

I have only built 2 wheels but this tool sure made my build simple. If youβre stringing black spokes and nipples, Iβm not sure how you could keep from damaging the black paint with a standard wrench. This tool grabs the splined head of the nipple from the outside. I found using this tool that micro adjustments were necessary during the end of tuning. A positive contact to the head made this simple. However, if youβre 10-12 turns in and you find the nipple tight, be sure to get a good grip on that nipple or you will spin the head off aluminum nipples. I had to order 16 more spokes to replace 3 nipples I stripped before fully tuned. Yes, I had to cut the spokes to replace the nipple, no backing it out. I only broke 3 nipple heads on 64 spokes. Not too bad for a rookie but still a hassle to break my rhythm and progress in the process.

Worked fine for my wheel build. Annoying that DT Swiss has their own nipple wrench. Just another tool to add to the collection. If you have any grease or anything on your hands the handle is pretty slippery. Worked fine when trying to feed the nipples through the wheel to catch the spokes. Held the nipple and washer well.

With this tool, I built my first wheel ever. The nipples provided with the rim by DT Swiss require a unique tool, and I was slightly disappointed. The actual use is very convenient. Screwing the nipples to the spokes was effortless. In my view, they should have supplied the tool along with the nipples (perhaps at a discounted rate), and not sell me another tool that I may never use again.
