I have a couple different bike racks. The Thule 4 bike rack is my current one. But with the Thule rack the bikes hang from it and get so badly beat up. I was hesitant to buy this rack just to replace a rack that still worked. But I thought there has to be another way. The Swagman rack is only a 2 bike carrier, so we stash one bike inside the trailer, not the best solution, but its ok. Having more than two bikes hangin off the trailer hose carrier is not the best idea anyway. (I have the brackets that add 400lb load rating to the hose carrier-still doesnt make it a good idea) So this rack is easy to assemble-they dont provide any of those disposable wrenches- you have to use your own. The whole rack can be assembled with a 9/16 socket wrench, or 9/16 open end, or cresent wrench for that matter. The lock will require something bigger- Im not sure on the size but its bigger than 15/16. I used a big cresent for the locking pin. I set up the bikes on the rack per the instructions. They fit great. Solid on the rack and dont move too much. I haven’t trailered with it yet but I can tell its alot more sturdy than having the bikes hang from the other style rack with the overhead arms. Im really pleased with the quality and ease of assembly. And for once the instructions were easy to follow also.I would definitely buy again. RV rated bike rack.Updated: 1/23/2019- Trailered the bikes a few hundred miles. The bikes are solid on the rack. They dont bounce around anywhere near as much as they did with the Thule hanging style rack. The Swagman rack has worked very well. Really happy with the purchase.

When we bought our Subaru Ascent with the trailer hitch integrated in the bumper, I discovered that our older Swagman bike rack wouldn’t really work anymore. The bikes were too close to the back of the car, and would hit the back window, and they were too low – the bike tires sat directly in front of the exhaust. So I bought this rack to lift the bikes up and away from the car, and it worked perfectly.Pro: Solid as a rock with the locking hitch pin. Doesn’t rattle or move at all. Holds the bikes solidly too when fully cranked down. The rack came with a broken tire strap (which is a con), but the company replaced it in a couple of days with no issues. Was relatively easy to assemble – I’d recommend mounting it on your hitch to assemble, it brings it up to a much easier height.Cons: Heavy. My wife can’t lift nor install this on her own. Having the bikes higher makes it a bit trickier to get the bikes up on the rack if you are short (but a lot easier than the roof!). There is a bit of wiggle in the bikes with a slanted top tube unless you really crank the arms down.

There is nothing about this rack that isnβt perfect. I had one that mounted on the front of my RV and wanted to strangle myself after dealing with the labor of putting bikes on it. THIS rack was easy to get organized and together, did NOT need an extension on my Minnie Plus, as it cleared the spare tire completely and is SO easy to get two bikes on. This thing is tough and easy to put on my truck as well when I leave the RV at home! Extremely sturdy. Buy once cry once if you are worried about the expense!

This bike rack is work very well behind my 37+ foot 5th wheel. Bikes are rock solid as is in the rack and there little to no jiggling around. The 2β metal work fits very snuggly into the hitch receiver and the bolt mechanism prevents any wobble. Super happy with this purchase and the bike rack.

I’ve tried others and this is the best for the money. Many carriers sway when used on the back of an RV. This one is as solid as a rock and folds away easily.

I just received my bike rack, a few days early. I like the quality of this, it’s heavy duty. Not sure what I expected, but I wanted a high quality product. I’ll be taking by a road trip soon, so will follow up on how it performed.

Works great for two bikes on the back of my 5th wheel. I did need a hitch extension because the rack tilts back toward the rig. Still gave 5 stars because it’s well made and I really like the locking ratchet hooks.

It was sturdy and has locks but we still had a bike stolen so I guess we should have cable locked bike as well.
