I’m glad I purchased the Delta Leonardo Single-Bike Rack for my mountain bike. Saving space in my cluttered garage and the need to reduce the need for me to pick up the bike as much as possible for storage are the primary reasons I made this purchase. The design is simple, the construction is sound, and mounted into the wall studs of my garage make it very sturdy. The reason I reduced my rating to 4 stars is that the instructions for mounting the unit to the wall do not present the best way to reduce stress on the front wheel over time due to bicycle weight. My mountain bike is not the lightest weight on the market (Trek ‘Navigator’), and lifting it into position on the wall as well as putting the entire weight on the front wheel are two things that I wanted to avoid. So, after reading a couple of the previous buyer reviews and recommendations for installing this product, I altered my installation somewhat to make the Delta Leonardo Single-Bike Rack easier for me to use and easier on the front wheel of my bike.Since the location of my Rack is in my garage, I was not opposed to providing my bike’s rear wheel with support to take all of the weight off of the front wheel. So, I first used a 16-inch cinder block placed against my garage wall to support the full weight of the bike as it stands on end against the wall. This is a convenient height (for me) to roll, lift, and support my bike against the wall. Next, I placed the front wheel support bracket on the bike’s front wheel rim as I supported the bike in its intended position against the wall and marked the mounting holes along the perpendicular line I’d previously marked on the wall with my framing level. I was careful to position the Rack hook so that it held the front wheel rim without putting any stress on it. I’d advise anchoring the Rack using 3-inch deck screws into a wall stud for strength (however; with the bike’s weight supported by the cinder block, I suppose a quality wall anchor would have sufficed had I not been able to locate the Rack directly over a wall stud). I then removed my bike from the wall and secured the Rack hook assembly with two deck screws. The bike was then returned to the mounted Rack, resting on the cinder block and I installed the Rear Wheel Bicycle Tray after marking its mounting holes along the same vertical line using screws (rather than the peel-off adhesive tabs that came with the Tray) for added strength.I’m very happy with how this installation worked and the ease with which I can now stow my mountain bike against the wall using the Delta Leonardo Bike Rack without having any stress on its front wheel.I would definitely recommend this product to a friend, especially with the above method of installation.

I bought 4 of these to hang an assortment of bikes on the wall of my bike room. They make the room look very cool, with the bikes along one wall and my rack and tool chest on the other side – like a mini bike shop, which it pretty much is.InstallationI initially used 60lb drywall mounting hardware for these, however the first bike (an 18lb road bike) pulled the hoot out of the wall.Instead, I put 3/4″ finish-grade plywood on the wall over the drywall to save the hassle of mounting on drywall. I placed the hooks 30″ apart to make sure I had room for wide handlebars and space to “lean” each bike to pull it out of the hook.I can’t give this product 5 stars, both for product and installation reasons. I’d still recommend them, but go in with eyes wide open to the limitations and what’s needed to use them effectively.Product Problems:1) The screws are not counter-sunk into the mount. This makes it hard to get bikes with thinner tires to hang with the wheel straight.2) The back wheel plate doesn’t include screws, only adhesive tape, and has no adjustment capability. There may be no weight on the plate, but not all bikes are equal length. It’d be nice if it were either slotted or otherwise adjustable.Non-Product Problems (Or Buyer Beware)1) This won’t fit most mountain bike tire/wheel setups. If you have a ~2.0 tire or wider, it won’t clear the hook. My WTB Wolverines won’t clear.2) Aero road wheels over about 45mm won’t fit without putting the bike at a significant angle to the hook. If you’re putting multiple hooks in a row, make sure you have room or put the aero wheel bike at the right-hand end.3) IMPORTANT. The weight of the bike is levered against the hook. If you’re mounting to drywall, be absolutely certain to use high-capacity mounting hardware – at least 100lbs, preferably 200lbs. An 18lb road bike will pull a 60lb drywall mount out of the wall.

I live in NYC & have a carbon fiber Trek bike. It can’t be stored outside & our rental apt doesn’t have any building storage so the only solution was my bedroom. I looked and looked (and looked) and settled on this $9.78 Delta Cycle Leonardo Bike Rack. With some thoughtful planning and patience this is a total LIFESAVER SPACE SAVER and I couldn’t be more pleased! The bike is officially mounted between my closet doors & my wall shelving which is roughly 8″ of space. To keep the wall from showing the tire scuffing I squeegee’d a black vinyl strip but any wall paper will do or simply take the time to remove the scuffing with a Mr Clean magic eraser. One thing to know: No anchors are included in the kit. So buy a pair of sturdy anchors that will work with your wall. The Delta mount has a 40 lb / 18 kilo weight limit so keep this in mind when anchor shopping AND buying any bike rack.In all though I couldn’t be happier with this & truly hope it holds up!

I am disappointed that it did not come with the rear-wheel tray. The packaging says it’s optional, but I can’t find where to buy it separately. I want to hang my bike in the house, but without the rear wheel tray, I’m concerned about scuffing the wall.
