WARNING to Shimano owners: you need to buy the lower bracket tool to remove the original pedal bearings. I messed up and got all excited that i could get my motor installed the day of and then ran into this roadblock and had to wait a few extra days for the tool to arrive.The BBS02 + 46t sprocket + 18ah battery was the best purchase I have made in years. Plenty of power and speed for daily use. The battery also had range for days. Keep in mind all batteries will experience voltage sag when using the motor on max pedal assist mode for extended periods of time. If your battery sags while on a ride its a good idea to pull over and give it a minute or two to level back out.That being said my bike got stollen about a week later unfortunately (gotta love Chicago). Buy a heavy duty U lock and slip an airtag in your bike so this wont happen to you!

For those wondering if you can put install it on your beach cruiser, the answer is yes! I bought the 48v 750W with a 48v 20ah battery (purchased separately. This thing is awesome. I’ve gotten it up 30mph on a flat road. With my combination, the battery and a mix of full self powered to pedal assist, up and down hills, it has lasted well over 25 miles with 3/4 of the battery left. Both bikes have a 3 speed internal rear hub and reason for mid-driveFor those wanting to install on a beach cruiser, you will need a few things:1. You will need a American to European Bottom Bracket Adapter. The mid-drive motor requires the European bottom. It will be a tight fit around the bottom bracket and you will not need the motor mount from motor to hub. You might have to file your bottom bracket down a bit or a little where the motor touches the bottom bracket. Just for a better fit.2. You will need brakes since your coaster brakes will not work since the hub is a freewheel. I opted for simple BMX brakes (pic 3 and 5). The brakes attached to the same bracket that the fender uses. If the brakes don’t reach the rim, you can buy an extender https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Q382F6Q?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=13. The stretched cruiser needed a longer wire for the speed detector mount. I just cut the wire, extended it, soldered and wrapped it.

It’s been almost a month since I purchased this kit and so far, I am generally very satisfied with my purchase. The motor is excellent, the battery is a quality build (Panasonic cells), the installation was easy. The kit was complete with no missing parts and shipped in a timely fashion within the given time frame and the vendor was very helpful and accommodating so far.My only disappointment was with the display unit (DPC18). Don’t get me wrong, it is a very nice unit, however when i researched it on the net prior to my purchase, videos and articles I’ve seen mentioned that PAS level can be set to 0-3, 0-5 or 0-9 depending on how fine you want to tune your pedal assist. I was surprised to see that my display had the PAS level pre-set to 0-5 and cannot be changed. When I contacted the vendor about this i was told that their listing specifies that the PAS level is 0-5 on the DPC18. They are right, I simply missed that detail on one of the listing pictures. Apparently BAFANG changed this display to support only 5 assist levels. Older versions supported 9. So if you want to modify default assist values to your style of riding using a special USB cable (that you can buy separately), how do you know which 5 of the 9 available levels this display picks from the motor. I asked the question to the vendor and they replied with a chart of PAS mappings for 3, 5 or 9 assist levels of the motor to the display. Turns out a display (DPC18 in this case) with a fixed 5 PAS levels, actually maps levels 0,2,4,6,8 and 9 from the motor. So, by programming these assist levels with the USB cable, one can customize PAS to their liking.When it comes to the performance of the motor, it is torquey, fast and very quiet. Good torque to zip through intersections very quickly, and to climb up the steepest hills without breaking a sweat, and it’s also fast on flat terrain. I can reach 48-50kmh (31mph) on flat terrain with the 48v, 17.5ah battery. That’s way above the legal e-Bike speed limit where I live. Although fast is exciting, I would suggest being easy with the throttle on a bicycle. Battery range is also excellent if you go easy with speed and PAS. Canβt give you an exact number as this will change substantially depending on your style of riding.All in all, you can’t go wrong with this purchase, especially from this vendor. My previous attempt to buy this kit had turned into a problem with another dishonest seller, so it is important to pick the right vendor for a happy ending.

Till to date I drove 700+ Kilometers without any problem. Very Powerful Motor specially if you change Mode from 1 to 5. I user this Kit on my Giant Talon 4 Mountain Bicycle which have disc Brakes and this model is Basic MT Bicycle and strong enough for E-Bike Conversion.So far so Good and I am (Alhamdulillah) happy with my decision to use BAFANG Motor !

Overall, the mid-drive motor does what it is supposed to do and has plenty of power. There are a few things that could make it better. They could make the peddle assist at level 1 a little less powerful. On a flat I have to be going about 16mph to feel any resistance on the peddles. Below that I might as well use the throttle and not peddle. I would like to start feeling peddle resistance at 10 mph at level 1. It would make it safer in crowded pedestrian environments. Blasting past pedestrians gives E-Bikes a bad rep. It would also be nice if they came up with an easy way to shorten the wires. I have loops of cable dangling below the handlebars. Lastly the front sprocket that came with the 1000watt motor pushed was pushed too far from the bike frame causing the chain to derail when shifting to the climbing gears. The front sprocket and the climbing gears were badly misaligned. Iβve ordered a different sprocket with a greater βoffsetβ in hopes of solving the problem.
