5 stars because if you want to feel like you’re on rails going downhill, this is probably the tire for you…It’s actually really difficult for me to explain the characteristics of the tire without being straight and to the point. In my experience, it is an excellent downhill tire while being an average more or less in climbing capability. In the downs, you really get a sense of thrill and grip for just about all terrain, and I’m sure the ride gets even more exciting with the 3C compound. One thing I hadn’t tested was tire pressure… I would always run these at 18-20psi and never cranked up the air. I really wish I would have bumped up the tire pressure to see how it rides, despite it sitting in my garage. Putting it back on doesn’t sound to thrilling for me being that most of my riding is climbing and the casual downhills that come with the trail on my Trek Fuel EX8. Plus, I’m riding a 21.5″ XL frame and I’m 6’1, just to give you some stats.I highly recommend this tire for going downhill, but when it comes to climbing it just doesn’t have that bite and tread pattern for when you’re hammering and wrenching down on staggering, rock and steep paths.Hope this helps you out in your decision! I’ll be back with an update if I happen to get that tire back on.

Excellent upgrade for an early 2000 Rockhopper. Improved stability in crossing desert sand washes and traction for climbing.

Everything is great about this tire, but I just LOVE the way it grips when leaning into a turn

Get on the downhills and in the turns but I do slip a little bit in the steep climbs. Overall great tire.

Upgraded my sons stock tires and these grip amazingly well.

This tire is hands down bad ass. The traction and grip is predictable and dependable.

The bead won’t seat evenly on the rim. At 50psi, I got a pinch flat the first time I rode with it. It’s heavy. It’s mounted on a 26″ Sun Rhynolite rim. I used talc between the tube and the tire. I used soapy water on the bead and it still won’t seat evenly. The rim is straight but the tire wobbles on the rim.
