After 5 years of riding, I finally decided I wanted the ability to ride on the road in low-light and nighttime hours. After researching available options, I decided on the AMPP1100 and AMPP800 package for the following reasons:* Good experience in the past with Cateye products* Favorable reviews* 2 handlebar mounts AND helmet mount included* Availability (stock is low everywhere for bike lamps and bike equipment at the time of this review)Overall, Iโve been pleased with the purchase. Construction feels solid and is of high quality. The lights are easy to operate and provide very bright beams, with short slits along the sides for a bit of side visibility as well. The provided mounts are easily attached and secured, and I can have the 1100 on the bars and the 800 on the helmet for enhanced visibility and as a potential backup. I can also share one of the lamps with a family member or friend if I want to ride in company. The lamps are conveniently charged via USB and with the large battery (and great quality), I am not concerned about becoming stuck on the road away from home in the dark.

I was very impressed with the build quality of both lights. I thought the housings were made of plastic from looking at photos, but the AMPP800 is mostly metal (back panel is sturdy plastic) and the AMP1100’s front half by the light is metal (the back half is sturdy plastic). The lights feel quite sturdy.I’m happy with the brightness of both as well.I’ll mostly use the AMPP1100 as my main light and the AMPP800 stowed away as a backup, so I didn’t need the included helmet strap. However, it’s nice to have the helmet mount as an option. (And who knows, once I try it, I may end up wanting to use it all the time.)

Fantastic overall lights. I regularly use them in the Arizona desert in ditch black to mountain bike. The flood of the beam provides a great spread allowing me to easily see the terrain at high speeds. Switched to cat eye lights after using nite-rider for years and have not looked back. Battery life is pretty great too. Can easily run both lights for 3ish hours with zero worries.

Everything about this setup is impressive. The amount of light output, the ease of mounting and use on controls, and especially the functionality of the control buttons. Accessing the button on the helmet mount is simple, and the mounting strap is solid. I had originally purchased a CatEye system from a store in Yokohama. Then while registering it, I saw the set, and decided to browse Amazon. So glad I did. I immediately charged my new system and took an evening ride. The amount of light is not exaggerated in the advertising photos.

Worked great to light my way on dark mornings. With one attached to the bars and on on my helmet I can light up the path. I’m riding only an hour at a time with lights so the charge lasts me for a good while.

Excellent, very bright lights. The mechanism for attaching them to a bar or helmet works extremely well. It’s super easy to detach the light from the attachment for recharging or storage, and they latch on very securely. I like that when you turn them on, they come on at the same setting when you turned them off. The only thing I’d like is a bit easier way to turn them on and off. The single button is just a little clunky, but overall they are great.

These both feel solid and well built. The 800 lumen headlamp seems to be working well. The 1100 lumen dual LED unit goes from fully charged to showing red on the status indicator light built into the button in less than an hour. Both units show a full charge after being plugged into charging cables within an hour, which is way faster than any of my other lights. This makes me question the true amp hour ratings of the batteries (which are not replaceable, my the way), or their onboard charging circuitry.

I bought these for my MTB riding on the trails… Light is good but would not say super bright if I compare it to the other some 25-35 riders – they seem to have even brighter lights..The AMPP800 seems to have good run time, unfortunately that cant be said for the AMPP1100 that will barely run for 20 minutes before shutting off – no flashes or anything to warn of low power – luckily when it happened the first time i was abe to get home using the AMPP800 (it gets really DARK on the trails) …I thought maybe i havent charged it to 100% (there is no indiction on the devices when fully charged – power button stays red…) So before yesterdays 2 hour ride i charged the devices over night with USB.And same scenario not even 20 min of riding time the 1100 shut off, turned it back on and it would run for another 2 minutes and then turn off again…I will be looking for something better, also with a working visual indicator of being fully charged…
