I already had another CATEYE light (the Volt 600) that I use mounted on my helmet that I’ve been very happy with. I decided to go with the AMPP1100 as a second light for my handlebars. I haven’t used it for a ride yet, but the light is tremendously bright. Based on the initial unpackaging and prior experience with this company, I expect to be very happy with it.My one complaint is the charging cable, shown in the picture. It’s pretty stupid how short it is. My wife happened to have a jar of perfect height underneath the outlet, otherwise there would be no way that cord could reach any outlet anywhere unless it were in the floor. I’ve never seen such a short cable that was supposedly intended for charging. It’s so silly that was enough to prompt me to write this review. CATEYE, seriously, your light is great but this is really really silly. Send a real cord. Even just 12 inches would be better.Overall it gets 4 stars because the real product here is the light and that seems to work very well. But I had to dock 1 star just because of this dumb cord.

Pros: Very bright, low beam is adequate for most commuting situations, hi-beam is quite a bit brighter. The 2 flashing modes are good but I donβt use them. The mount is good.Cons: The button. Too small, very hard to use with winter gloves, I have a Niterider on my other bike and the button is about 50% bigger, no problem with that button. Press and hold the button to turn on. Why? Cateye has had this feature for years. Donβt like it. Itβs a light switch, off and on please. This light replaces an older Cateye Volt 300, the AMPP400 is easily twice as good; brighter, whiter, better beam.Overall an excellent light, except for the button.A 5 star light, but the button downgrades it to 4 star.Update 3-25-2022The brightness and spread of the beam on low is perfectly adequate for normal commuting, hi-beam is double the lumens (200 low/400 high) and is bright enough for any situation I encounter. Very impressive.Itβs getting warmer so I wore some thin gloves yesterday and the button is still terrible. Not only do you have to press and hold to turn it on, but when you switch between modes there is a slight delay, so you might hit the button twice when nothing happens, and you just skipped the mode you were trying to get. Without gloves will probably be much better. If you have sausage fingers, this light isnβt for you. Will someone at Cateve please buy a Niterider and copy their button?5 star light1 star button

This is actually my second AMP1100 – I was in a crash and I snapped the first one off of my handlebars after flipping over them. Even then I was impressed with how the light broke (still functional) and the construction of the attachment which was visible after I snapped it.This light is very bright – on the brightest setting it does a great job of illuminating the woods at dusk. For the roads I prefer the dimmest setting. I also like the blinking feature – it’s really helpful for being more visible while biking in the rain. I find the battery life to be excellent and I like the feature that the power button shows me the battery status. Finally, I have tried a few lights and I really like how this one is mounted. The screw design is much less likely to break and I have lost other poorly constructed lights to bumps in the road because it wasn’t as sturdy as a cateye. It’s worth the extra money to get this!

I use Cateye exclusively for bike lights, since the mounting base is standardized, and I didn’t have to install a new one on my handlebars. My only gripe with the earlier Cateyes is the plastic tab holding the light in place in the brackets would turn brittle with age and use, and it would eventually get to a point of where the light would slide from its mount, whenever I made a stop. I went through several of these over the years until I came across this gem of an upgrade. Not only is the tab that secures the light to the base more substantial, it still fits the base I used for all the previous lights. And it needs to batteries, just a periodic recharge. This has been a good purchase.

I purchased this light for myself over a year ago. The light is extremely bright and illuminates the ground brightly. Itβs easy to put on and take off itβs mount. And Iβve rarely had the charge the battery, although I do most of my bike riding during daylight hours. Iβve been so happy with the product, I recently bought one for a friend.

This light will definitely get the attention of drivers and pedestrians. The mounting is stiff at first, maybe because I’m used to strappy attachments, but gets easier to manage. Great item to purchase

I ride my bike in a major US city at night all the time and this light is one of two that I use to make riding in the dark a piece of cake!

This is on my trike. It actually is a functional headlight. I do not normally ride at night, but there are trails with tunnels. This headlamp passed the test.
