On a short three-mile ride these immediately felt natural and I found myself defaulting to them vs the flat bar grips. The inward canted shape combined with the pronounced ‘lip’ at the end of the grip allowed me to rest the crook of my hand securely and comfortably without applying much, if any, gripping force. I expect this will be a boon on long rides as fatigue sets in. The heavily contoured shape doesn’t look comfortable but fit naturally in hand, and at least for me, led to a very secure feeling and sense of control despite the narrower effective bar length. The shifter and especially brake levers were easily reachable. As a point of comparison, I tested these back to back with stubby traditional bar ends installed in the same inner position, and the difference was night and day. The traditional bar ends (which also cant inward a bit) felt hard, awkward, and less stable. A few criticisms:- Multiple size options would further enhance comfort and control. I wear an XL glove and did feel that these would be better for me if they were scaled up 15-20%.- After thirty minutes or so I did start to feel some discomfort and a pressure point at the lower center of my palms. I expect that experimenting with grip installation angle will help, though this could certainly prove an issue on long rides. Time will tell.- The bases of the bar ends are relatively wide (around 20mm) and push the shifter and brake levers inward and away from the regular grips quite a bit, making them harder to reach when using the flat bar. I expect that removing 15mm or so from the inside of each grip would solve the issue (I have Ergon grips installed and this would keep my palms on the wide part of the grips without having to stretch to reach the levers).- Despite this being a well-designed and fairly ‘specific’ product, $40+ is awfully expensive for what is ultimately a simple, molded plastic product (albeit a seemingly high-quality one).Despite those caveats, I highly recommend these if you ride mainly on road.

I’ve been riding with these for a few months now, and I’m glad I bought them. I learned about these from the Joy Of Bike youtube channel (from Lee Likes Bikes) and figured I would give them a go.My hands bother me occasionally, and having an alternate grip to use is a real nice to have on the trail.4 stars, because 1) they are slightly heavier that I would have expected, but feel solid and are amazing for hand comfort…so it’s not much of a negative2) the emblem on them looks like a medical bracelet. Nothing wrong with it, but it looks a little awkward on the bike, i’d have preferred…something else.Minor nits aside, if you have hand soreness, or would like an alternate hand position on your bike without going back to the old tree catchers, give these a try. You won’t regret it.

If youβre used to drop bars and are having comfort issues with a flat bar bike, these will help. I wish they would have sent me a new pair. The pair I received, had the Imprinting worn off and weβre dirty/oily like someone had used them and sent them back. Not a huge deal, but disappointing.

I recently converted a drop bar gravel bike to flat bar, and these SQlab Innerbarend grips looked like they’d work better than anything else available to provide an alternate hand position, similar to riding on the hoods of a drop bar. The grips are sturdy enough, the instructions were clear, the installation was fairly straightforward. They do provide for hand placement somewhat similar to riding on the hoods, this increases ride comfort, and also improves aerodynamics slightly (though not to the same extent as riding the hoods on a drop bar). No regrets about purchasing & installing.Reasons for not giving full five stars: the grips are a little too thin for my hands, and the plastic material is hard, so they are not as comfortable as they could be if they were larger and/or there was a rubberized type coating or other wrapping. Also, mounting them as instructed between grips and shifter/brake lever creates a gap that makes the brake levers truly one finger only. Fortunately I have hydraulic brakes and can get away with one finger braking. Not sure how any alternate design might improve that, but wanted to mention it as a consideration for potential buyers.

Nice design that fits well with my hands. Use it most of the time. If it were an inch longer to allow a bar end-like hand position, I would have given it 5 stars. Matched it up with Gripshift-compatible Ergon GP-1 grips and spaced out the shifter to allow a full grip around the handlebar when needed (e.g., bouncy terrain).

I bought these for my gravel bike, which I had outfitted for a (for me) long charity ride on the road. I have an SQlab carbon handlebar on my MTB that I love and I’ve had problems with numb fingers on long rides and I figured I would give myself any advantage I could get. They were well worth it, allowing me a relaxed posture and natural wrist position that made the ride much more comfortable. I’m leery of putting them on a trail bike out of fear of landing on them, I’d highly recommend them for any straight-handlebar bike that you don’t plan on taking a digger in and you want a more natural, comfortable and aerodynamic riding position.

For such a small part these are quite heavy. Also they need to slide on which makes easy addition/removal for different rides impossible. Theyβre not compatible with shimano disc brake cylinders if installed where the instruction manual suggests in the inside end of the grips. Returned. Even the carbon option is a PITA to install. Iβll be waiting for V2 or for Farr to make an equivalent.

I wasn’t sure that these would work all that well because they seemed a little small but I was wrong they are easy to install, unobtrusive and work perfectly.
